Violet DiCaprio passed on peacefully February 27, 2014 at the age of 87 under the care of St. Cabrini of Westchester and ArchCare Advantage staff. Her husband, Tony DiCaprio passed in 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Angela "Angie" DiCaprio. Violet has lived happily for the last 5 years at St. Cabrini enjoying her passion of playing Bingo, Cards, Jigsaw Puzzles, and finding sweets to eat. Violet has always been a modest unpretentious woman, but still, she stood her ground. Violet was born in North Tarrytown, NY to Angelina and Sabbato Battista who had emigrated to New York from Italy in 1910. After the death of her husband, Angelina raised her seven children in Yonkers NY where Violet married and gave birth to her daughter. She was employed with Stewart Stamping in Yonkers NY and retired after 20 years. Violet has survived all of her siblings, Carol, Benny, Jenny, Carmella, Mesa, and Antoinette. Numerous loving nieces and nephews will miss "Aunt Vi". Her sweet sincerity has touched the hearts of those who got to know her, and she will be a light that will continue to shine. Visiting Sunday 3-7pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry, NY. There will be a Church service at St. Cabrini of Westchester, 115 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry NY at 9:15am on Thursday, March 6, 2014. You may come to greet the family at 8:30am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Cabrini of Westchester. All donations in Violet's name will be used to memorialize her with an inscription on a leaf of the Tree of Life located across from the Chapel. St Cabrini of Westchester will issue donation letters to be used for tax purposes for donations received by check.
