George Joseph Lanning, 87, of Ossining passed away on January 8, 2017 after a short illness. Born the middle child of three in Mt. Kisco to the late James Joseph Lanning and Mary Katherine Miller Lanning, George was raised in Katonah and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Katonah in 1952. He was a Korean War Veteran proudly serving in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, until his honorable discharge. On February 23, 1952 he married the love of his life, Frances Claire Dougherty Lanning who predeceased him. They lived most of their adult life in Tarrytown. George was the former General Manager of Delta Electric, Inc. and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Local 3 for over 60 years. He was a member of the Mt. Kisco Country Club for many years and thoroughly enjoyed playing golf. He and his family spent many happy hours at the golf club. George was also an active parishioner of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Tarrytown and served as an usher for the 12:00pm Sunday mass for many years. George is survived by his daughter, Michelle Mary Lanning, of New Rochelle, NY. Family and friends will receive visitors at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY on Thursday, January 12 at 10:00am prior to the Mass of Resurrection at Transfiguration Church at 11:00am. Interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
