White Plains, N.Y. - Alan Carmasin passed away peacefully at age 73 surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at White Plains Hospital.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Myra Ginsburg, son Jeremy Carmasin, stepchildren Sally and Jonathan Ginsburg, brother-in-law Bob Lichtenfeld, niece Aimee Lichtenfeld, nephew Michael Lichtenfeld, and many other loved ones. Alan was predeceased by his sister, Carol Lichtenfeld.
Alan was born in Yonkers, New York on June 19, 1945 to parents Ethel and Samuel Carmasin. He received his B.A. from the University of Rochester in upstate New York and went on to complete a Masters in Education at the University of Buffalo, working as a teacher.
Alan lived in N.H. and V.T. for over thirty years. He moved to N.Y. in 2007 to marry his wife, Myra in 2009. Alan was an innkeeper, a property manager, and later became Associate Director of Alumni Relations for his alma mater, University of Rochester. Alan was a passionate supporter of the arts, both at the University and the Upper Valley.
Alan was an adventurer who enjoyed hiking, skiing, swimming, biking and more throughout the Twin States and New York. He could often be found eating at Lou's in Hanover with friends and family. He was widely known throughout the Upper Valley for his ability to befriend others and bring smiles to everyone who knew him.
