White Plains - Florence (Fay) Kaplan of White Plains, N.Y. passed away Tuesday, August 7 at the age of 101. Beloved Mother of Alan Kaplan, Jill Kaplan and Jonathan Kaplan. Grandmother to Natalie Gorlin, Jeffrey Kaplan, Jodi Cohen, Jared Kaplan and Dana Kaplan. Great Grandmother to Richard and Michael Gorlin, Dylan, Avery and Zack Cohen and Rye and Jules Williams Kaplan. Fay grew up in Port Chester, NY, and married Nathan Kaplan in 1940. They were married for 13 years when he passed away at the age of 40. Fay outlived her siblings, Sidney, Sylvia, Rose and Lily with whom she was inseparable. She owned and worked at Central Furniture in White Plains, and also worked at SUNY Purchase, The NY State Lottery, and Camp Hadar in Clinton, CT. After her retirement, as a member, she co-managed The Hebrew Institute Thrift Shop for many years. She loved her time and service there. Known for her practicalities, kindness and giving nature, her friends and family will miss her deeply. A woman of valor, a remarkable person. Funeral service Friday, Aug. 10 at 11:00 a.m. Mt. Hope Cemetery Hastings, NY. Shiva at the home of Alan Kaplan, Hartsdale, NY, Fri. Aug. 10, 1:00-5:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Westchester or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, NYC.
