Jean G. Kawalchuk, 94, a life-long resident of Dobbs Ferry, passed away peacefully at Cabrini Rehabilitation Center on March 5, 2020. The youngest of 9 children, Jean was the daughter of Patrick and Grace Raff. She was a graduate of Dobbs Ferry Public Schools and worked for several years at the Davis and Lawrence Corp before marrying John Kawalchuk. Jean was a devoted wife, married for 50 years, a loving mother to John and Michael, and a homemaker. She was a caring mother-in-law to Gale (John) and Maria (Michael) and grandmother to Katie, Jake, Jessica and Michael. Jean was co-founder of the Dobbs Ferry Touchdown Club and Past Commander, Women's Auxiliary, the American Legion. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and member of The Dobbs Ferry Senior Citizens. Jean enjoyed traveling, making several trips to Europe and California, to visit her niece Carolyn Polese, her son Don, wife Jane, and their children, which were her extended family. Jean was a very independent and compassionate person. She was very proud of her two sons and loved her grandchildren. She was a sweet and caring Aunt to many cousins, nieces and nephews and was loved by her neighbors and friends. Jean was a wonderful person and will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
