Gerard P. Micera Dobbs Ferry, New York Obituary

Gerard P. Micera

Gerard Peter Micera, known to many as "Pete," left the world suddenly, quietly, and calmly on Wednesday morning, September 1, 2021, following a 10-day admission at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Prior to his admission, he had been non-responsive to ongoing efforts at communication. The issues were high levels of carbon dioxide and low levels of oxygen, cycling up and down for several days. Ultimately, his lungs did all they could and had completed their mission in providing 93 fulfilling years of life. A life-long New Yorker, Pete was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, where his family owned a grocery store during his younger years. His bi-lingual skills and religious training and background also earned him years of success in Puerto Rico. He then returned to the U.S. to marry and raise a family. Pete earned a Master's degree in English and was a dedicated teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal during his more than twenty years of service in various NYC public high schools. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking, entertaining and all things culinary--a true foodie! Travels also included Belgium and Italy. He purchased a house in Cape Cod, which is still a favorite family spot. HIs cooking, creativity, perceptivity, and playful sense of humor will be forever missed. He is survived by his wife Anne, two sons, Gerard and Stephen, his daughter Annemarie, and two grandchildren, Kyle (18) and James (3). The evening before his death, his wife, daughter and son Gerard spoke to him and prayed with him, letting him know how much he was loved and appreciated.
