James J. D'Ambrosio, 62, of Congers, NY, passed away on March 19, 2021, surrounded by his children. Jim, who was born in the Bronx on January 30, 1959 to the late John P. and Marion (Henchar) D'Ambrosio, and grew up in Irvington, NY, graduated from Stepinac High School, Iona College, and University of Bridgeport School of Law. Jim practiced law on Main Street in Irvington for over 30 years, working alongside his father to shape the law surrounding no-fault insurance in New York. An avid scuba diver, Jim loved the Mets and Jets, and served as President of the Nyack Field Club and on the Board of Dominican College.
Jim is survived by his children, John D'Ambrosio (Caitlin) and daughter, Amanda D'Ambrosio. His fiance Janet Fortunato and sisters: Susan Eddy, Laura Hagerty, Carol Smith (Dan), Marion Andolina (Gary), Nicole Egloff (Jim), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by Janet's children, Joseph, Lorenzo, and Anna Fortunato. He also leaves three beloved grandchildren, Jordana, Catherine, and Peter D'Ambrosio.
Family and friends may call on Friday, March 26 from 5-8 p.m. at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, Dobbs Ferry. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 27 at Immaculate Conception Church, Irvington. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Nanuet.
