Douglas H. Schading, 73 a resident of Dobbs Ferry passed away on August 29, 2021. Born and raised in Rochester, he was the son of the late Jack and Ruth Schading. Douglas had a longtime career with the State of New York in the SUNY Colleges, first in Buffalo, then in New Paltz and eventually retiring from SUNY Optometry in Manhattan. He had an enjoyment of movies and notably theatre. Douglas treasured these times with his daughter, Heidi, seeing over two hundred plays and musicals, mostly with her by his side. He adored hosting his friends and family in New York City and showing them the sites. Douglas' knowledge of the city affectionately earned him the comparison title of "Google Maps". He also had a passion for traveling and was proud to achieve flying over one million miles on American Airlines. The flight attendants came to know him on domestic flights. Douglas was an avid sports fan and always made sure to watch the New York Mets games. He especially cherished the Sunday's he spent with his son, Ryan watching the Buffalo Bills games. He was a loving and supportive father and friend, who will be sorely missed. Douglas is survived by his former wife Audrey, children Heidi (Chris) Libby and Ryan (Isabel) and grandchildren Matthew, Alexis, Salvador, Jack, Ariana, Marisa. He is also survived by his brothers Jack (Merry) and Lee, nephews Brett and Jack T and niece Pamela. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Michael J.
