Salvatore Sal J. Basso

Salvatore J. Basso, a long time Dobbs Ferry resident died on Dec. 4th, he was 81. Sal was a retired Con Ed., Transmission Line Service Manager; after having worked for 38 years. Sal was born to Salvatore and Carmella Basso. He was raised and attended school in Croton on Hudson. He served in the United States Marine Corp in Korea. Sal married Eileen Sheridan on May 24, 1962 at Sacred Heart Church in Dobbs Ferry; she predeceased him in May of 2009. Sal was an avid hunter, fisherman, and pilot. He was a member of the Quiet Birdman Assn. and was awarded by the FAA for 60 years of flying. He was a proud member of the Marine Corp League of Westchester; the Ogden Fire Co., of Dobbs Ferry for over 40 years; and Croton's Washington Engine for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Westchester Volunteer Fireman's Assn. Sal is survived by his sons John Jay Basso; Timothy, his wife Patricia Basso; and two granddaughters Meghan and Hannah. Visiting Tues. 7-9, Wed 2-4 & 7-9 Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home; Mass of the Resurrection 9:30am Thurs. Sacred Heart Church Dobbs Ferry.
