Ruth King, 95, "Miss King" a lifelong resident of Dobbs Ferry died on September 22, 2010 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx with her family at her side. Miss King was born on April 18, 1915 in Dobbs Ferry to Joseph and Jennie Polhamus King. She graduated from the Dobbs Ferry school system then went on to the New York State Teachers College at New Paltz where she graduated in the class of 1935. Upon her graduation she became a dedicated second grade teacher at the Dobbs Ferry Elementary School for the next 35 years. Many of her former students fondly remember her. She was also a member of the Dobbs Ferry Historical Society and the South Presbyterian Church in Dobbs Ferry. She enjoyed gardening and baking. She is survived by her nephew Richard M. King Jr. and his wife Suzanne J. King of Dobbs Ferry. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother and three sisters. The family wants to recognize the years of excellent care given to her by her caregivers, Marilyn, Jennifer and Maxine. The family will be receiving friends at the Edwards
