Joan A Barbey, 81 was called to her eternal rest surrounded by her loving family. Mrs Barbey was born on September 20 1928 in Yonkers N.Y. , the daughter of the late William and Claire Carnegie. She and her late husband John were married in Yonkers N.Y. on September 16, 1948. Joan was proud of her Scottish and Irish Heritage. She was a resident of Duck N.C. She loved the peace and serenity of the Outer Banks and will be buried their at Southern Shores Cemetery. Joan's love, patience, understanding and sense of humor will be remembered by all who loved her. Her giving and caring spirit will live in their hearts forever. Mrs Barbey was predeceased by her husband Dr John N. Barbey, her daughter Laura J. Marino and a sister Claire Smith. Loving mother of John W. Barbey of Walden N.Y. and Peter R. Barbey and his wife Maureen of Pomona N.Y. Loving sister of Margaret C. Desmond of Kitty Hawk N.C. , Renee and Bill Myers and family of North Highlands California, Barbara and Joe Battaglia and family of West Ghent N.Y. , and her brother in law, Ed Smith and family of Plattsburgh N.Y. . Other surviving relatives include Jack and Jane Stuppin and family of San Francisco California and Joanna Deagan and family of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was the loving Grandmother of David Marino, his wife Tara and Joan's two great grandchildren Dominic and Nico. Other grandchildren include Brandon Cerniglia of Rhinecliff N.Y. , Amanda Degraff and Joan's great grandson Derek, of Lake Katrine N.Y. , and Meliz Davey of Valley Cottage, N.Y. . Also Robert Marino her son in law of Yonkers N.Y. and Lisa Cerniglia her daughter in law of Rhinebeck N.Y. The family wishes to express their loving gratitude to Joan's caregivers, Margolyn Duncan, Maureen Robinson and Angela Campbell for the unconditional love and support they gave to Joan and the family. The family also wishes to thank Hospice and Laura Coffee for all their help and support. Visiting will take place at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home; 64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry N.Y. 10522 on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at St Barnabas Episcopal Church, 15 North Broadway Route 9 Irvington N.Y. on September 12 2010 at 1:00pm. Memorial contributions to St. Barnabas Church appreciated.
