Alan S. Meyer, DVM Obituary

Meyer, Alan S., DVM, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021. He was born on April 20, 1944. He grew up in the Bronx and attended The Bronx High School of Science, before going on to attend The City University of New York and, later, The College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. He worked as a veterinarian for over forty years. For the last 40 years, he ran his own practice at the Animal Clinic of Mount Vernon. He loved taking care of animals of all shapes and sizes. He and his loving wife, Anne, settled in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, with their two children, Matthew and Joshua, in the 1970s. They raised the two boys along with standard poodles, cats, birds and fish, in Hastings. That's where he and his family found Temple Beth Shalom, which became a very important part of their lives. Alan was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Morris Meyer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, his two sons and their wives, Lori and Tammy, four grandchildren, Audrey, Hazel, Sophie and Benjamin, and his brothers Mark Meyer and Jeff Meyer and their families. A private memorial service was held on Sunday, July 18, 2021. The family is sitting shiva privately as well. Contributions can be made in Alan's memory to the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University (https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/baker-institute), the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation (https://www.clfoundation.org), or to Temple Beth Shalom in Hastings (https://www.tbshastings.org).
