RESCHEDULED VISITING AND FUNERAL MASS Marchand, Jean Jacques Jean Jacques Marchand, 84 of Ardsley, died on February 23, 2010. Mr. Marchand was born in Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada on January 20, 1926, the son of Albert Marchand and Blanche Daoust. Mr. Marchand was an accomplished Fashion Designer, working in various design houses in Paris, France as well as New York City. He began his career as an apprentice in Paris, France with the House of Yves St. Laurent after completing his studies in design school. He then moved to New York City in the mid 1950's and continued his career designing dresses and women's sportswear under the fashion labels Kay Windsor and Leslie Fay. Other prominent designers with whom he worked, included Bill Blass and Evan Picone. On December 16, 1961, he married Emilie Durspekt in New York City. After ending his design career in the late 1970's, Mr. Marchand devoted his attention to his family, community work and completing a Bachelors Degree in Business from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. He involved himself as a coach in Little League Baseball, land preservation issues in Ardsley as well as volunteer work with AARP assisting seniors with income tax preparation. Mr. Marchand was an active member of his parish, OLPH in Ardsley, as well as a loving and caring husband and father. Surviving are his son Michael and his wife Kathy of San Diego, CA; daughter, Nicole Kagan and her husband, Philip of Chatham, NJ; son Paul and his wife, Renee of Montclair, NJ. One brother Claude of Granby, Quebec; and seven grandchildren: Danielle, Ryan, Brent, Jean-Luc and Alec Marchand, Ian and Aiden Kagan. Mass of the Resurrection TUESDAY 10:00am, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Ardsley. Visiting MONDAY 5-8pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
