Frank J. Scandura, a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at his home in Irvington, NY with his family by his side. He was born in New York City to Julia and Jack Scandura, and attended Alexander Hamilton High School and then later the New York Institute of Technology where he received his degree in Engineering. He began his career in New York Telephone working in the outside plant engineering department and later transitioned to the Labor Relations department as District Manager, where he spent the remainder of his career until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid sports fan and jazz enthusiast. He was a talented saxophonist, who performed with a band on weekends well into his forties. During the Korean Conflict he played in General Mark Clark's band while serving in the U.S. Army. He was happiest spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Scandura, his daughters Julie Biggar of Napa, California, and Christa Ring of South Salem, NY and their husbands David Biggar and Gary Ring, He will be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren: David and Lindsay Biggar and Cassandra, Chloe, Alexis and Jamieson Ring. He was predeceased by his brother Phil and sister Theresa. Donations in Frank's memory may be made the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
