James Baird, 72 of Ardsley, retired Mt. Vernon Fire Dept. Captain, on January 3, 2010. Mr. Baird was born on February 2, 1937 to John and Frances Callanan Baird. Mr. Baird served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. On October 2, 1960 James married Marjorie Speare at Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Vernon. They moved to Ardsley in 1967. James was a sports enthusiast with a great affinity for the NY Yankees and Giants. He had a passion for reading and crossword puzzles. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, James V. Jr., and Christopher. He had a great love for his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. James was predeceased by two sisters: Janet Baird and Frances Low.
