James W. Badie a resident of Elmsford and former long-time resident of Dobbs Ferry former Acting Village Justice in both villages. He was born April 11, 1929 and emigrated from Iran to attend college in 1949. He met his wife Ottilie (nee Merckel) when they were both students at Columbia University and married in 1955. James earned his Master's Degree from Stephens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ and went to work for Union Carbide. He would go on to earn his Law Degree from New York University and partnered in a law firm in NYC working primarily as a Patent and Trademark Attorney. He and his wife loved entertaining and having friends and family to the house and made everyone feel welcome. James alawys made himself available to family and friends to offer advice and legal counsel. An avid golfer, tennis player, NY Giants Fan and Past President of Knollwood Country Club where he was a longtime member. In addition to his wife of 65 years he is survived by his son Clark and his wife Cyndi, son Stuart, daughter Andrea Hegarty and her husband Donal Hegarty, his grandson Nicholas Badie, his longtime secretary Nancy Soto who is a surrogate family member as well as his loving brother and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Claude in 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dobbs Ferry or Elmsford Volunteer Ambulance Corps would be appreciated.
