John M Distefano, 87, of Dobbs Ferry passed away peacefully on November 2, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in the Belmont section of the Bronx he was the son of the late Gaetano Distefano and Santa Mertoli both from Catania, Sicily. John is also predeceased by siblings Angela Ricevuto, Joseph Distefano, and Tina Campbell. John proudly served in the US Army from 1953-1955. In May of 1966 John married Suzanne Devine, his loving wife of 54 years and together they raised their three sons, Matthew (Shawn), John, and Robert (Laura) in Dobbs Ferry. A longtime parishioner and usher of Sacred Heart in Dobbs Ferry, John loved to bowl, listen to Frank Sinatra and cheer on the New York Yankees, but his true passion was his family, especially his loving grandchildren Amanda, Luke, Elizabeth and Joseph.
