John Scaperrotta, a lifelong resident of Dobbs Ferry passed away on June 2, 2017. John was born in Dobbs Ferry on July 7, 1928 to Crescenzo and Marianna Scaperrotta. In 1947 he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. After his return from service, he settled in Dobbs Ferry and in 1950 married Antoinette Matessino. John worked at his family's longtime restaurant, Scappy's Harmony Inn. He was known to many as "Your friendly bartender Johnny". John was also known for his whistling. He loved golfing, bowling, gardening, a good cigar and a cold Miller nip. After his retirement, he moved to Surfside Beach, SC with his wife. John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Antoinette "Nan", his children, Ramona (Howard) Allen, Debbie (Paul) Mante, Francine (George) Bonifacio, Annette Noe, Chris (Brenda) Scaperrotta, Susan (Craig) Horsfield, his 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his brothers, Dominick, Edward, Chris, Robert and son-in-law Charles. Mass of the Resurrection Friday June 9, 2017 at 9:30AM Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Dobbs Ferry.
