Christine Katherine DeAngelis

Christine Katherine DeAngelis, 94, of Hastings on Hudson passed away on the morning of Monday May 22, in her home. Christine was born in Manhattan on March 5, 1923 to Giovanni Migliaccio and Francesca Iacono. She was a war bride, marrying the love of her life Raymond DeAngelis on September 26, 1942, before seeing him off for overseas. As a ‘Rosie the Riveter' Christine worked in a munitions factory making titanium rings for the war effort and in 1945 was happy to make her life as a homemaker in the Bronx. Christine and Raymond moved their family to Hastings on Hudson in 1960. In 1965 Christine was suddenly predeceased by her husband. Throughout all her years in Hastings, Christine was involved with the Westchester Girl Scouts, serving as troop leader and troop organizer for the county for many years. She was a tireless volunteer for Saint Matthew's Church and School in Hastings. As part of an original team of 8 women, Christine helped design, implement and teach John F Kennedy's Physical Fitness program at St Matthews as their Physical Ed program for sixteen years. She was a member of the St Matthew's Prayer Group, a voluntary healing group. Christine attended College of Mount St Vincent and received an Associate in Science degree in 1983. She was an employee of NYC Health and Hospitals, working as a Hospital Administrator in Surgical Services at Jacoby Hospital in the Bronx until her retirement. In her spare time Christine loved to cook her favorite Italian meals for her family, babysit her grandchildren, was an awesome homework helper and a fierce defender of the children. She is survived by her son Richard (Carol) DeAngelis, daughter Maria (Harry) Stahl, her grandchildren Michael (Liz) and John DeAngelis, and Cristina Stahl. She was the oldest of 6 and is survived by her siblings Nicholas Migliaccio, Elsie Caprino, Pasquale Migliaccio, Lucy Salaterski and RoseAnn Civitano and 14 nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at St Matthew's Roman Catholic Church in Hastings on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York. Christine was a woman of strong character, deep faith, big heart and an undying commitment to her loved ones. We love you mom and will miss you dearly.
