Obituary for Dr. Tak-Ching Kenneth Lau, M.D. Dr. Tak-Ching Kenneth Lau of Berlin, CT, passed away on July 31, 2019 at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita, sons Kevin and Kirkland, daughters-in-law Karen and Giulia, and grandchildren Nicholas, Christina, David, Daniel and Ryan. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Dr. Lau was the 12th of 14 children in his family. He earned his medical degree from Lingnan University in 1952 then moved to the United States to continue his post-graduate medical training at hospitals in Yakima, WA, Jersey City, NJ, and New York City. After completing his residency in radiology, Dr. Lau became an instructor in radiology at Columbia University Medical School in Manhattan and Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn. He also was on the medical staff at several other hospitals throughout New York City in a distinguished medical career that spanned over 40 years. Dr. Lau lived in Irvington, NY, for 45 years and was an active volunteer within the community. He was an elder at the Irvington Presbyterian Church, an Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 55, and he served four terms as President of the New York branch of the Lingnan University Alumni Association. Dr. Lau also served as a Major in the United States Army Reserve. Visiting hours will be Saturday, August 10, from 9 am to 12 pm at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, NY. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Rockfall, CT. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation may be made to the Szutu Leadership Endowment of the Lingnan University Foundation.
