Rose Marie Petro

Rose Petro nee DeAstis, 95 , of Peekskill passed away peacefully on November 15th after a long life well lived. Born on May 20, 1921 in Ardsley, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Angelina Lillian Santore DeAstis. She worked for the Philips Company in Irvington and later at the General Foods in the test kitchen of the Tarrytown Tech Center, from where she retired. She married Wallace Petro on July 22, 1945 in Dobbs Ferry where they lived for 44 years before moving to Peekskill. Wallace died in 2003. She will be missed by her son Wallace, of Briarcliff Manor and his caring partner, Cindy Menucci, sisters Jacqueline and Lucille of White Plains, two granddaughters, Melissa Caleb Beckford of Greer, SC, and Alison Logan Romm of Chappaqua, and their mother, Julia; her great-granddaughters, Sara and Harriet Beckford; and her nieces nephews, and cousins. Her sisters, Pauline, Angelina, and Florence predeceased her. She will also be missed by her loving caretaker, Monica, and, as an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Cortlandt Manor, by her fellow parishioners, Deacon Ray, Deacon Larry, and Fr. Tom, in addition to her life-long friends around the country. She will be remembered by all whose lives she touched as selfless, caring, and loving. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567-4113.
