Joseph "Joey" Urbano Dobbs Ferry, New York Obituary

Joseph "Joey" Urbano

Joseph "Joey" Urbano of Yonkers. N.Y., died Monday, May 11 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers after a short battle with the coronavirus. He was 55. To know Joey was to know a one-of-a-kind soul. At times larger than life, he made friends easily and took over every room he entered, with his smile, generous heart, blue eyes and definitive opinions, which he never tired of sharing. Joey was a master carpenter and was employed variously in the New York area for more than 30 years as both a carpenter and a carpenter foreman. There was nothing he couldn't build or fix. Joey loved the outdoors, and was happiest hunting, fishing, camping or riding his Harley Davidson. He also loved to share meals together with family and friends. He lived life to its fullest, sometimes on the edge, but always on his terms. Most of all, Joey loved his family. He was fortunate in love, and was immensely proud of his two sons, Matthew and Andre, regaling those around him with stories of their exploits and successes. He was similarly devoted to his only sister, Isabel (nee Urbano) Watson, in who's lifelong friendship he relied upon. His parents, Alvaro and Augusta Urbano, retired now in Portugal, also survive him as does his former wife and the mother of his children, Catherine (nee Costello) Urbano. His extended family include nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to name. He knew and loved them all. At some point in the future, when it's safe, the family will hold a memorial service for Joey. For now, and for always, he lives in our hearts and memories.
