Carmela Palumbo

Carmela Veronica Palumbo, 93, of Hastings-on-Hudson, died July 28, 2016 with family by her side. She was one of nine children born to the late Giacinto and Carmela Grieco ne Cacciopoli on July 15, 1923. A Bronx native, Carmela graduated from Morris High School in 1939. She married the late Carl M. Palumbo in 1947, and they lived together in the Bronx until his passing in 1994. She worked as a secretary in the 1940s and again in the 1970s. Carmela's life was filled with devotion to her husband, love for her family, and pride in her homemaking. Her independence and acuity in her nineties were inspiring to all who knew her. Carmela is survived by her sons, Carl and Ron, and their wives, Phyllis and Karen; granddaughters Adrienne Jay, Jessica, Melissa Perry, and Vienna; great-grandson Jason; nine nieces; and two nephews. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her brief illness. Visiting will be Monday from 10:30AM to 1PM. Funeral Services 1PM Monday at the Edwards and Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY followed by entombment with her beloved Carl at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson. "Say not in grief that she is no more, but say in thankfulness that she was."
