Mary Ann C. Simpson, 63, a thirty three year resident of Sherman, formerly of Richmond Hill and Dobbs Ferry, NY, died June 30, 2005 at New Milford Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joseph; her son Jeffrey and his wife Linda of Turnersville, NJ; her sister Geraldine Accardo of Nesconsett, NY; nieces Christine and her husband Robert Horel of Baltimore, MD, and Lauren and her husband Nicholas Novellino of Forest Hills, NY. Mary Ann was born in Queens, New York, on November 24, 1941, the daughter of the late Sylvia and Gasper Congemi. During Mary Ann's remarkable career she was a Legal Secretary for several Manhattan law firms culminating to be the Executive Secretary to the Vice President and Chief General Counsel of the New York Times during the infamous Pentagon Papers period. Upon moving to Sherman, she was employed by Union Carbide Corporation for 22 years. When she left, and retired from, the company in 2002 Mary Ann was the Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer. Since 2003, she was secretary for the Clinical Resource Management Department at New Milford Hospital. A wake will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Dobbs Ferry, NY; the same church in which she and Joe were married. Celebrant will be Father Louis Dytkowski of Holy Trinity Church, Sherman Connecticut. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. The Family asks, in accordance with Mary Ann's wishes that , in lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Ann's memory should be made to The New Milford Hospital Regional Cancer Center, 21 Elm St., New Milford, CT 06776 and/or The New Milford Visiting Nurse Hospice, New Milford VNA, INC, 68 Park Lane Rd., New Milford, CT 06776.
