Margaret P. Hortens Obituary

Margaret P. Hortens, formerly of Irvington died June 7, 2005. Mrs. Hortens was born in Millbank, SD to George and Cloa Morley Phelan. During World War II, she worked in Lisbon, Portugal in the US Embassy for Bernard Barouch and George F. Kenner. On February 21, 1948 Margaret married Walter Hortens at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Mr. Hortens died in 1988. She retired from Axe Houghton Securities in Tarrytown as an Administrative Assistant. Mrs. Hortens was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church where she was a long time member of the choir. Surviving are her sons Michael J. Hortens of Nyack, Kevin J. Hortens of Newport, PA., and one granddaughter, Claire Hortens of Newport, PA. Margaret's brother Edward Phelan and sisters Frances Shields and Mary Nelson died earlier. Mass of the Resurrection Monday 10:00AM, Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irvington. Visiting Sunday 2-4 & 7-9PM Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
