Milton Garfunkel

Milton Garfunkel passed away on May 27, 2005 after a short illness at the age of 100. He was brought up in NYC, the son of Abraham and Kate and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1922. He attended CCNY in NYC. He was married to Ethel "Peggy" Garfunkel in 1935, and moved to Mount Vernon in 1945. He was a partner of John Kivo and Co. from 1941-1966 a millinery firm in NYC. He lived in Mount Vernon until 1966, and then lived in Yonkers to his passing. He was interested in golf, sports, theater, dancing and had a wonderful loving marriage for 70 years. He spent many years at Leewood Country Club and Lake Isle. He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Kaaren and her husband Charles Hale and their two children Melissa and Amanda and his son Richard, his wife Linda, and their children Dana and Jon. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Larry, Mac, and Mike and one sister Syd. Funeral service will be at graveside at Mount Judah Cemetery, Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial deductions can be made in his name to the Jon Breen Fund at Mount Vernon High School, 100 California Road, Mount Vernon, NY 10552.
