Joseph George Richter, Sr., died peacefully on April 28, 2005. He was born August 6, 1924 in Yonkers, NY, son of George and Emma Walko Richtarcik Richter. On May 3, 1947 he married Phyllis DeBenedetto in St. Bartholomew's Church in Yonkers. For the past 41 years they have lived in Hastings-on-Hudson. Joseph was the former owner of Summit Bus Corp. and Triangle Bus Corp. He loved driving bus and spending time with his family. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW2. Surviving him is his loving wife of almost 58 years, Phyllis, his loving children, Linda Kiernan and her husband Joseph of Wappingers Falls, Joseph G. Richter, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Kempton, PA, his cherished grandchildren, Kara Kiernan Gabay and husband Ralph, Michael Richter and wife Christina, Daniel Kiernan and fiancee Beth-Anne Tomaskovic, Heather Richter Rucci and husband Frank, Ryan Richter Roth and husband Evan., beloved great-grandchildren, Sean and Christian Roth and Domenic Rucci, 2 nieces Victoria Errico and Debbie Stofko, 2 nephews Ronald Havranek and wife Margaret and Edward Stofko, an aunt Rachel DeBenedetto and cousin Joanne Mazzei, as well as Gail and Greg Longdon and Skipper and Roe Ferine and their children, who were like members of the Richter family. He was predeceased by his sisters Mildred Havranek and Rose Stofko Mass of the Resurrection 10 am Monday, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Hastings-on-Hudson. Visiting Saturday 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. n lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Riverside Parkinson Support Group c/o the Richter family. The entire Richter family extends their deepest appreciation to the health aides and visiting nurses that have cared for Joseph during his long illness.
