Rita Marie Leggiadro (Formally Rita Sammon) Devoted Mother and Grandmother Rita Marie Leggiadro, 79, a long time resident of Yonkers, New York for forty-seven years, died Tuesday, January 1st 2019 after suffering through a long illness. Rita passed with her family by her side. Rita was born on March 25th, 1939 in the Bronx, to Paul and Concietta Leggiadro. In 1957, Rita graduated from Aquinas High School and upon graduation began working for the New York Telephone Company for several years. She then married, and began her family. In 1977, she began a long career of thirty-two years at the Manhattan Savings Bank - HSBC Bank in new accounts where she became a household name in the Yonkers community. Rita was known by her colleagues for her tireless energy, kindness, and gentle nature. Rita independently volunteered her time by visiting disabled clients providing them with one - on- one banking assistance in their homes. Rita is survived by her children, Diane (Gary) Riefenhauser, Richard (Dianne) Sammon, Michael (Janette) Sammon, and Ellen (Edward) Serino; Nine grandchildren; Brother Daniel and Sister-in-law Brenda, and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Del Greco. Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2019 from 3-9pm at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Eugene's Church in Yonkers, New York.
