Richard Fraterrigo of Bronx, NY passed away on September 18 after a brief and tough fight with lymphoma. He was eighty-eight years old. Richie, as he was well known as, was the son of Italian immigrants Carmelo and Maria Elena Fraterrigo and lived in the Bronx. He worked as an Oxygen Technician for the Scully Walton Ambulance Company before entering the New York City Police Department in 1957. After serving as a Police Officer for twenty-four years with the 46th, 48th and 40th Precincts, and Trucks 2 and 3 of the Emergency Services, Fraterrigo retired for ten years and returned to community service as a US Deputy Marshall at the Federal Court House in Manhattan until his retirement in 2002. Richie loved Italian food, the NY Mets and Jets, bowling, spending time with his family, and vacationing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was a parishioner at St Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Maria of fifty-three years, sister Evelyn Artale (and husband John), daughter Maureen Anderson (and husband Frank), sons Richard (and wife Maryann), John (and wife Rosemary), Robert (and wife Cyndi), Michael (and wife Yissel), grandchildren Michael James Fraterrigo (and wife Jennifer), Lauren Garcia (and husband Maynor), Michelle Fraterrigo, Brent Anderson, Nicholas Fraterrigo, Vincent Fraterrigo, Michael Fraterrigo, and Giana Fraterrigo, and great grandchildren Natalie Garcia, Anthony Garcia, and Jesse Garcia.
