George H. Ferguson, Sr., 68, of Lake Katrine, NY, died suddenly Monday, August 1st, 2022 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus following a battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Kingston, N.Y. on October 24th,1953, a son of the late William and Anna (Lowe) Ferguson.

George was employed by National Micronetics (1970s), Trailways (1980s) and most recently First Student Transportation as a School Bus Driver for over 38 years. While at First Student he proudly earned Bus Driver of the Year Award in April 2014.

As a champion pool player, George won a trip to the Las Vegas finals, where he won a championship trophy. He loved lottery scratch-offs and was an avid coffee drinker. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

George was a handyman and workaholic who enjoyed helping others.

He is survived by one son, George H. Ferguson, Jr. of Kerhonkson, two daughters, Felicia (Tracy) Bundy of Iowa and Lovisa (John) Turner of Georgia, four siblings William (Karla) Ferguson of Port Ewen, Anna (companion Ivan Darquea) Johnson of Catskill, Danny Ferguson of Oklahoma, and Tammy (companion Junior Curtis) Ferguson of Kingston. Seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Edward Ferguson (1988).

The family will receive friends at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Friday, August 5, 2022, the Rev. Dr. David M. Brechter will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot at Rosendale Plains Cemetery.
