Richard E. Rippel

CAIRO – Richard E. Rippel, 86, passed away on Saturday July 30, 2022 from an illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Carley Rippel; his son, Daniel Rippel and wife Allyson of Cairo; his grandchildren, Seth (Shelby) of Cobleskill, Logan (Kaitlyn) of Amsterdam, and Danel of Acra; his step grandsons, Bill and Tim Holbrook of Round Top; his step great-grandchildren, Abby, Aiden, and Annabelle; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Irma Behr Rippel; and his sister, Claire Turner.<br><br>Rich loved to be by the water, and liked fishing and bowling. He worked for tug boats, for Greene County Highway Dept., the carpenter’s union, and was a bus driver at Greenville Central School for 26 years.<br><br>Rich has been privately cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 27th at 11am at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 5830 State Route 81, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
