Billy Wayne Aldridge, age 78 passed from this world on July 23rd, 2022 surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Friday August 19, 2022 at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene.
Billy was born May of 1944 to Ray & Viola Aldridge. He was the youngest of three boys.
One of his passions was football, which he played in college. Shortly after college he married Ruth Patterson. They raised five children in Odessa, Texas, Paul, David, Michael, Rebecca & Stephen.
Bill's many talents while raising his children were, Choir director of his church, Theater plays, Lectures, and scaring neighbors when Dallas Cowboys made touchdowns. With 4 boys there was no shortage of football games. He was known to run down the side lines hooping and hollering, cheering his boys on.
Bill moved to Abilene in 1981 where he retired from AT&T in the late 80's. He left Abilene for Phoenix, Arizona, where he married Claudia Imlay. After 20yrs in Arizona, in 2011 Bill returned to Texas with his beautiful bride.
They set up on a 10ac spread in Cross Plains, Texas, the "Texas Ten" where they raised goats and rescued dogs.
Bill encompassed the phrase " give you the shirt off his back ". Always looking for ways to help anyone out. He was a loving, caring Husband & Father, a loyal, caring friend and a selfless giving man who will be sorely missed. Condolences for the family may be left at www.northsfuneralhome.com.
