Richard Robert "Dick" Hennessey Richard Robert "Dick" Hennessey of Argilla Road, Ipswich, died suddenly Sunday, September 11, 2016 at his home. Born in Salem on November 1, 1943, he was the son of the late William F. Hennessey and Eleanor (Jeffrey) Hennessey. He lived most of his life in Ipswich, graduated from Ipswich High School in 1962, and served in the Army National Guard for seven years. Dick worked in and owned tanneries in Peabody before joining Magid Glove Company in Chicago, as a manufacturer's sales representative. He loved his job and retired in 2012 after thirty years of service. Dick loved his home and yard, spending time in Stowe, taking wonderful road trips with Heidi, playing golf with old friends, and gathering his family together. He will be so very missed. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Heidi (Simoneau) Hennessey who loved him dearly. They met when they were fourteen years old. He was also survived by his beloved son Chris and wife Susan of Montpelier, VT; beloved daughter Hope Reed and husband Craig of Tucson, AZ and beloved son Richard and partner Meghan Sylvester of Hull and the seven lights of his life, his adored grandchildren, Catherine and Olivia Hennessey, Henry and Scarlett Reed, and Annabelle, Chloe and Cordelia Hennessey. In addition, Dick leaves his brothers William and wife Mersine of Florida, and Jeffrey and wife Sally of Merrimack, and sisters Anne Winter of Essex, Ellen Fuller of Virginia, Alice and husband Ken Savage, of Maine, Mary Hennessey of Newburyport and Janet Hennessey of Newburyport; plus many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcomed to visiting hours Thursday September 15 from 4 to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
