It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a beloved father, grandfather and friend, Terrence (Terry) Chaplin Sr. on July 24, 2022 at the age of 77.  He leaves behind to mourn his loving son who he adored, Terry Chaplin, his daughter-in-law, Nadine Breau, and cherished granddaughter, Ève Chaplin, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as many extended family members, and dear friends. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Caroline Beer, his parents, William and Lucy Chaplin, his brother William (Patricia), and sisters Rita Harnett (Joseph), Annette Saunders (Robert, deceased), and Joan Marie Dunn (Gary, deceased).

Terry spent many years of his work life as an electrical technician and worked in the Northwest Territories on the D.E.W. Line, but was most proud of his work with Memorial University as a visual editor with Educational Television (ETV), where he retired after many years.  A natural born musician, he played the piano and guitar since childhood.  He always looked forward to getting together for “jam sessions”.  Family and friends loved gathering at his house around the kitchen island for some good chats. and great laughs.  He will be missed by so many.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2022 from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 10-11am. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 at 11:00 am from the Chapel at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue. Following the service family and friends are invited for a time of refreshments at Barrett's Reception Centre. Interment will proceed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
