Funeral service for Lauris Edwin "Yogi" Shelton of Isola, Mississippi is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2022 , at First Presbyterian Church Belzoni, MS. Visitation will be1:30 PM with services beginning at 3 PM. Rev. Richard Wiman will officiate. Burial will follow at the family cemetery at 8106 Tupper Bayou Road. <br /><br />Edwin passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Saint Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS at the age of 68. Yogi was born on August 1, 1953 in Charleston to John T. Shelton Sr. and Sarah Hays Shelton, who preceded him in death. He spent most of his life in Lambert before moving to the Cole Lake area to be near his loving family. He was a loving, caring man who loved being around others. and watching the crops grow. <br /><br />He was also preceded in death by his special companion his dog, Twink who he missed greatly. <br /><br />He leaves behind his sister Velmarie (Greg) Burton, his brothers, John (Marilyn) Shelton and Walter (Beverly) Shelton, Joe (Barbara) Shelton, He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews as well as many friends.<br /><br />Pallbearers will be; Drew Burton, Hays Burton, Will Bearden, Clarence Edwards, Chase Pearson, Payton Pearson, Drew Slater and Allen Slater. Honorary Pallbearers are; Denon Braswell Sr., Clarence McCullar, Tommy Grant, David "Hunkin" Pettigrew, and Blake Turner. <br /><br />There will be a fellowship following the graveside services for family and friends at Drew Burton's home.<br /><br />Mortimer Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements. <br />Obituary
