Max E Tomlin

<p>Max Eugene Tomlin, age 95, of Cambridge, NE, passed away at the Beaver City Manor on Friday, July 29, 2022. He was born in Indianola, NE on May 27, 1927, to Walter and Charlotte (Barnett) Tomlin. Max attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945. He enlisted in the United States&nbsp;Navy September 7, 1944&nbsp;while still in school. He trained and worked as a radioman in the Navy and was Honorably Discharged on September 6, 1949.&nbsp;</p> <p>On September 8, 1951, Max was united in marriage to Reba Ohlson in Cambridge. The couple celebrated their 70th Anniversary in 2021. To this union seven&nbsp;children were born: Pamela, Sandra, Rebecca, Diane, Robert, Judy&nbsp;and Michael. The couple made their home in Cambridge.</p> <p>In 1958, Max joined the First Congregational Church of Cambridge. Through the years Max worked for the Geological Survey, farmed, and worked at the Phillips 66 station with Hugh Carter&nbsp;and Darrell Davis. When Cambridge schools started their first bus route&nbsp;in 1958, Max began his over 39 years of bus driving, retiring at the age of 70 in May of 1997.&nbsp;</p> <p>Max enjoyed fishing and golf. Max made golf clubs for his kids. He enjoyed doing home improvement projects to his home.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents,&nbsp;Walt and Charlotte; sisters-in-law,&nbsp;Joy (Robert) Feeken, Jean Witte, and brother-in-law, Bob Liggett.&nbsp;</p> <p>Max is survived by his wife,&nbsp;Reba; children,&nbsp;Pam (Jim) Miller,&nbsp;Sandy (Larry) Cornett,&nbsp;Becky (Von) Johnson,&nbsp;Diane (Steve) Ourada,&nbsp;Bob Tomlin,&nbsp;Judy (David) Garcia,&nbsp;Mike (Jamie) Tomlin;&nbsp;20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Donna Liggett.&nbsp;</p> <p>The family chose cremation. Memorial services for Max will be held at the First Congregational Church in Cambridge on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Bill Weaver officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the United&nbsp;States&nbsp;Navy Honor Guard at the conclusion of the Memorial services in the church. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenourfh.com. Memorials may be given&nbsp;in Max&rsquo;s name to either the Congregational Church or the Cambridge School Foundation. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.</p>
