A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana, honoring the life of Laura Mae Bernard Broussard, 81, she passed away July 28, 2022. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum in Abbeville, Louisiana, with Fr. Francois Sainte-Marie officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Chad Touchet, Gibson Rick Bessard, John Boudreaux, Alessio Lavino, Brett Garcia, and Alex Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Boudreaux, Chris Bernard, and Harvey DuBois. Laura Mae was born in Esther, Louisiana, on January 14, 1941, the fourth of five children, but called Abbeville her home for most of her life. At a young age she began her career as support staff in the medical field at the Palms Hospital and was later employed by Dr. Perry Sudduth and finally, Abbeville General Hospital until her retirement. She had been a resident of Parker County since December 2020. She is survived by her only child Laura Elizabeth “Liz” Broussard Touchet and her husband Chad, grandchildren Alaina and Nathalie of Aledo, her sister Brenda Boudreaux (Russell) of Abbeville and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Norman Whitney Broussard, parents Alphe and Laura White Bernard, brother Emery Bernard (Aline) and sisters Mary Lou LeBlanc (Ashton) and Theresa Miller (Warren). The family would like to thank the staff of Willow Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the loving care they provided to Laura Mae during her time there.
