Clark and Vesta G. (Trail) Clark.  Jo married the love of her life, Carl L. Boyd on June 8, 1953.  Together they built a home in Bowman's Addition and raised four children.  In addition to her parents, Jo was also preceded in death by her husband Carl; one brother: Ken Clark; and three sisters: Betty Bulgar, Maxine Schultz, and Deannie Dishong.   Jo has two surviving sisters: Malda Riley and Aline Ringler, both of Cumberland.  Jo is also survived by her children: Linda Quinn and husband Jim, Fort Ashby, WV;  Steven Boyd and wife, Kathy, Short Gap, WV; Karen Stegman and husband, Ron, Frederick, MD; and Rich Boyd and wife, Heather, Frederick, MD.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Stephanie Boyd, Laura Quinn-Willingham (Mike), Allison Quinn-Powell (Brian), Elizabeth Quinn, Chelsey and Nick Stegman and Shepard and Levi Boyd.  Jo has six great grandchildren: Markayia Foster, Jarren Wilds, Madelyn and James Willingham and Emma and Brooklyn Powell.  She will be remembered and missed by Christina, Randy, Alexis, Shaun and Bentley Stallings, Angie Haslam and Vance VanMeter, Earl, Brandy, Gavin and Gracee Haslam, Misty Jenkins, and the late Christy Wolfe and numerous nieces and nephews.   Jo was a stay at home mom until the death of her husband in 1982, when she went to work at the Cumberland Holiday Inn for 10 years.  She enjoyed time spent outside gardening and always had beautiful flowers to admire.  Jo loved flowers and always enjoyed receiving them as well.  She found great enjoyment with hummingbirds and loved watching them at her feeders.  An avid sports enthusiast, Jo watched everything from Saturday college football to Monday night football.  She was an Orioles and Nationals fan, enjoyed watching golf, NASCAR, and always looked forward to the Olympic Games.     Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, May 26, 2017, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.   A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Harold McClay, Jr., officiating.   Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens   Following Jo's cancer diagnosis in 2013 she moved to Frederick, MD to receive treatment and recover.  The family would like to thank several doctors and their staff who many times went above and beyond.  Dr. Hudhud, Dr. Romanic, Dr. Coyne, Dr. Mark Miller, Dr. Moen and most recently the nurses at Frederick Hospice and especially nurse Ellen.   Jo will hold a special place in the hearts of all who met her.  She loved being called Granny.  Many of her own children and grandchildren's friends called her Granny.  Her Boyd family was very important to her.  She was blessed to live in a time when families were raised in the same neighborhood surrounded by so many relatives.  She was raised with a strong Christian faith and believed in the power of prayer.  In her last days, her family often read the 23rd Psalm to her which was one of her favorites.  Jo was surely welcomed to her heavenly home by God and her beloved Carl.  She was loved and will be missed.
