Wilfred "Wilf" Hotsko Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilfred HOTSKO.   Wilfred Anthony HOTSKO was born November 4, 1964 at Kamsack to Mike and Gloria HOTSKO (nee Homeniuk).  Wilf was the middle child, having an older brother Michael and younger sister Karen.  Wilf attended school in Kamsack and graduated in 1982.  Following graduation Wilf worked various jobs in Kamsack, helped on the family farm, before settling on his longtime career of working as secretary-treasurer with various school divisions in Rockglen, Melville and Yorkton, Saskatchewan.  This career would span nearly 30 years until he retired.  But Wilf never really retired from anything as he was full of energy and eager to try new things.  After retirement, Wilf took numerous courses in income tax and worked part-time at an income tax business in Yorkton.  Accounting and spreadsheets were his passion and he was excellent at it.

As well as work, Wilf enjoyed sports, watching hockey, football, and whatever sports events that interested him.  Wilf enjoyed analyzing plays after the games with his son and sister.  Wilf was a homebody and never ventured too far from home.  In his younger days, he was a snowmobile enthusiast, blasting through the snowdrifts and trails.  In the past few years, he developed a love of cycling and could be found on the streets of Melville throughout the day.  He enjoyed disc golf, making his mark on the local courses.  He also experimented with cooking and loved to share his recipes.

He loved the family farm and helped mom with everything when dad passed in 2012.  He and Michael worked together to make the best decisions to keep the family farm running smoothly.  He had a big smile when he cut the grass at the farmyard and he focused on making the yard look immaculate.  To him, it was time well spent.  He was not only mom’s pillar of strength, but he was the best brother to both Michael and Karen, always keeping in touch with us. Wilf was kind, always had a smile on his face, and a joke or two, but most importantly always kept in touch.

Wilf was devoted to his children, Nick and Rebecca, and there are not enough words to say how proud he was of their accomplishments and the adults they became.  He did his best to ensure both his children received the best in life and maintained a good work ethic that truly shows in both of them.

Wilf is survived by his son Nick; daughter Rebecca; mother Gloria; brother Michael (Cheryl), nephews Clayton and Brennan; sister Karen Popoff (Fred), nieces Jesselyn and Melissa; aunts and numerous cousins.

Wilf was predeceased by his father Mike Hotsko in 2012, and both sets of grandparents.

Prayers will be offered on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 7:00 pm from the Andrychuk Funeral Home in Kamsack.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held for Wilf on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10:00 am from St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kamsack with Fr Joakim Rac officiating.

Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.
