Mr. Carl E. Smith Sr. 82, of Sanford, formally of Biddeford, passed away peacefully Monday July 25th, 2022. Carl was born January 12, 1940 in Biddeford Maine to Mr. Burton Smith and Mrs. Irene Turcotte Smith. Carl attended and graduated from St. Louis High School where he was a member of the Mainiac’s Club. He married his wife Pamela Belanger Smith on July 1st, 1983, at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Carl worked as a textile laborer for several years including Westland Shoe, Herman Shoe, Tanery, Nike Shoe and Biddeford Textile before his retirement in 2004. Carl was involved with the Rochambeau Club and the Eagles Club. He also enjoyed going to auctions. Carl was also a picker and loved collecting banks, enjoyed fishing, bowling, weightlifting, playing table tennis and volunteering for Relay for Life. Carl is preceded in death by his parents Irene and Burton Smith; wife Pamela Smith; and son Thomas J. Smith Carl is survived by his son Carl E. Smith Jr of Portland; son Patrick Smith of Biddeford; Son and daughter-in-law William and Lorraine Smith of Sanford; daughter Vicki Renee Smith of Old Orchard Beach; grandson Tommy Smith significant other Ashley Cataldi; grandson David Smith and spouse Kylian; grandson Paul Smith with significant other Ezra Smith; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Visiting hours will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Monday, August 1st, 2022 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
