Priscilla Ann Lenox (Priestley), of Wolfeboro, NH passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022, surrounded by family. She was 96.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband George S. Lenox, brothers William and Joseph Priestley, and sisters Marion Carver, Eleanor Priestley and Charlotte Johnson. She is survived by her three children Jennifer Lenox Craig, G. Stewart Lenox (and his wife, Monica Lenox), and David Lenox, sister Janet Richardson, (and her husband Gilbert Richardson and family), and her three grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, and Jessica Craig, as well as her extended family. Priscilla was born in Lowell, Massachusetts and was a graduate of Lowell State Teachers’ College. She became a primary school teacher in Amherst, MA where she met the love of her life, George.  They were married in 1952.  From then on, she devoted her life to him and to their three children, living first in Stratford and Fairfield, CT and moving to Akron, Ohio in 1963 when George joined Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.  In 1993, they returned to their New England roots, retiring to their lake home in Wolfeboro, NH. They were married for 65 years until George's passing in 2017.

Priscilla was the consummate corporate wife of her day, traveling with George on business trips where spouses were included and entertaining clients and business associates alike in high style.  She was known for her wonderful parties of all kinds, whether they were pancake breakfasts for the neighbors, Christmas eve buffets, elaborate holiday dinners for family, or perfect dinner parties.  She loved to cook for people and was always interested in trying new recipes and designing the perfect centerpiece. She and George were much beloved by their grandchildren who enjoyed their company frequently throughout their lives, both at the lake and during their winter sojourns in Anna Maria, Florida. 

No matter where she lived, Priscilla got involved in her community, joining the local garden clubs and the church.  At her death, she was a member of PEO in Wolfeboro as well as the First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro and her neighborhood lake association. She will be remembered fondly by the many people who were touched by her generous spirit and can-do attitude as a willing volunteer.

Despite her “traditional” lifestyle, Priscilla was fiercely independent in her opinions and attitudes, a trait which served her well as she faced advanced age with courage and grace.  She lived independently until the end, making her own meals and enjoying her books on tape.  An avid and lifelong birder and gardener, Priscilla was always happiest when out in nature. Even when her eyesight failed her in her later years, she delighted in recognizing the birds in her yard by their songs and always kept her bird feeders full.
