Vida L. (Burgeson) Larkin was born August 5, 1925 to Victor and Hilma Burgeson at Madelia Hospital. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1943. Vida worked as a waitress and clerk in her younger years and during World War II, she worked at General Mills in Minneapolis. She married Charles Larkin May 14, 1949 at Mater Dolorosa by Father McShane. Vida did day care, worked at Madelia Elementary School in the cafeteria and was a private cleaning contractor for the Post Office for many years until retirement. She was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary's MCCW and a Girl Scout leader.
Vida enjoyed making Christmas cookies every year at Christmas at her house with all the grandchildren. She mostly enjoyed her children and taking care of all her grandchildren. They were her greatest joy! She enjoyed all the many animals. Enjoyed walking even at 96 years old!
Vida L. Larkin age 96, of Madelia, MN, died on July 25, 2022, at Birchwood Cottages in Mankato, MN.
Vida is survived by her children, Deb (Mike) Tatro, Sue (Steve) Kelsey, Mark (Nancy) Larkin, Mike (Marla) Larkin; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles and her brothers and sisters.
