Margie H. Adkins Lexington, South Carolina Obituary

Margie H. Adkins

A Celebration of Life for Margie Adkins, 88, will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. Please feel free to wear something Gamecock related. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Our sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, wife, coworker, daughter, sister and so much more took her last breath on this Earth on Monday, July 25, 2022. She is with the good Lord now.

Margie was a Christian woman through and through. Born on March 13, 1934 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Burnie and Osie Hinson. She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Jeff); sons, Randy (Karyn) and Reid (Kathy); grandchildren, Jade (Kim), Randy Jr., Jamie (Nick), and Zach (Alex); and great-grandchildren, Penelope, Sybil, Brett Ashley, Lyla and Maggie. She was predeceased by her husbands, Talmadge Lambert and Jessie Adkins; and sisters, Edith Connell, Belle Schaffer, and Betty Ballard.

Margie resided in West Columbia, South Carolina where she retired after working 30 years at Southern Bell. She was a faithful servant of Jesus all her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia where she taught Sunday School, was involved in GA’s, and sang in the church choir. Margie is a loyal Gamecock fan and has cheered them on through every up and down—when the Gamecock Football Team wins this year, we will know Margie had a hand in it.

Margie never met a stranger; she was kind to everyone that she met and to know her is to love her. Her smile is her signature—she welcomed everyone with open arms. Margie was voted friendliest in high school, which is no surprised to anyone. When her children were growing up their house was the place to hang out, because she made sure everyone felt loved; she exuded kindness. Even when times were tough her love never wavered, and she always saw the good in everyone and in everything.

The hardest part isn’t losing her, it’s learning to live without her never-ending love and trying to fill this inevitable void. But we can continue to live this life because we know how lucky we are to have known someone like her, and because she would want us to go on living and loving and surrounding those around us with care, kindness, and love.

So, in light of her passing we ask that you sing ‘Amazing Grace’, dance to an Elvis song, talk to God, smile at a stranger, hug your children and grandchildren, cheer on the Gamecocks, and be kind to everyone you meet, because she would want you to be happy and, most importantly, she would want you to make everyone feel welcomed and loved.
