<p>Calvin E. Harris, July 28, 1951 - July 25, 2022, born to Oliver Harris and Mary Mansel Harris Johnson. Proceeded in death by his parents and his beloved stepfather Rufus Johnson and nephew DeAngelo Young. Calvin was a member of the first graduating class of Austin East High school the Class of 1969. He was a much-loved member of his class. Calvin knew no strangers. He was very outgoing and open to all he met.</p> <p>Upon graduating, Calvin worked for the Bell South telephone company. In 1974, Calvin had a life changing accident while riding a motorcycle. The accident left Calvin somewhat disabled and unable to continue to work any longer. After recovering from that life altering accident, he continued to attend Payne Avenue Baptist church where he served as an usher. Calvin also tried to continue his lifelong passion of fishing as much as he could in his condition. Over the years, Calvin became less outgoing but maintained ties to his class through his best friends Rodney Wilson, Thomas Holloway, David Shell, or Henry Chandler who would always want to see Calvin when he was in town.</p> <p>Those who remain to cherish the memories of Calvin are his sisters, Malinda Johnson, Janice (Clarence) Crippen, brothers Charles Harris, Houston TX and Erby (Regina)Harris. Nieces Kerensa Harris, Charlotte NC, Khristal Howell, Shardae (Anthony)Green, Tameka Blair Benton, Taurika Chennault, Atlanta GA, Whitney Boateng-Johnson, Deedra (Roy) Billings, Memphis TN, nephews Kirk Harris, Dallas TX, Doug (Anthonia) Harris, Dallas TX, Ramon (Sheryl) Houston, Nino (Tequila)Young and CJ Crippen. A number of great nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Special friends the Wilson and Thaxton families, Thomas (Tweety) Holloway, Carolyn and Hubert Gusby, John and Jude Greenwade who help to keep an eye out for Calvin at his apartment.</p> <p>Thanks to Pastor Brown and Payne Avenue Baptist Church members who would always enquire about Calvin when they would see a family member.</p> <p>Saturday, August 06, 2022, family&nbsp;will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings required. Funeral service to follow&nbsp;with&nbsp;Reverend R.S. Brown, Jr., pastor and Rev. Anthony Rodgers, eulogist.&nbsp;Interment at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Calvin E. Harris, July 28, 1951 - July 25, 2022, born to Oliver Harris and Mary Mansel Harris Johnson. Proceeded in death by his parents and his beloved stepfather Rufus Johnson and nephew DeAngelo Young. Calvin was a member of the first graduating class of Austin East High school the Class of 1969. He was a much-loved member of his class. Calvin knew no strangers. He was very outgoing and open to all he met.

Upon graduating, Calvin worked for the Bell South telephone company. In 1974, Calvin had a life changing accident while riding a motorcycle. The accident left Calvin somewhat disabled and unable to continue to work any longer. After recovering from that life altering accident, he continued to attend Payne Avenue Baptist church where he served as an usher. Calvin also tried to continue his lifelong passion of fishing as much as he could in his condition. Over the years, Calvin became less outgoing but maintained ties to his class through his best friends Rodney Wilson, Thomas Holloway, David Shell, or Henry Chandler who would always want to see Calvin when he was in town.
