Emma Jane Long Clayton

Emma Jane Long Clayton, 84, died Monday, July 25, 2022. Born in Person County, she was daughter of the late Robert and Carrie Gentry Long. Mrs. Clayton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was retired after 50 years of employment from Collins & Aikman. Surviving are two children, Jamie Clayton of Roxboro and Janet Jane Herzog and husband, John of Apex and her grandson, Tyler Herzog. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so from 11AM- 4 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 10 AM Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the Clayton-Long Family Cemetery on Whitt Town Road, Roxboro. Officiating will be the Rev. Ross Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace/CaVel United Methodist Church, 313 Church Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.

Emma Jane was a leader in our class. Academically, she was a marshal at the graduation our Junior year. Then noone will ever forget all of the years that she spearheaded our class reunions. She is certainly a loss to our world. Joan Brooks Ontjes

My sincere condolences to Jamie, Janet and Tyler. Emma Jane loved Tyler with all her heart. He was the light of her life. I remember when she would ride all the way to Apex to see him off the bus or to keep him.
