<p>James Richard Riley, 75, of Goodland, IN passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 25, 2022 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. He was born in Chicago, IL on Nov. 6, 1946, the son of James Richard Riley and Agnes Arlene (Heitz) Smith. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim was an over the road truck driver. He loved to drive a truck and drove from coast to coast. He drove for several companies over the years, most recently for Strasburger Trucking of Earl Park, IN. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, playing golf, watching the Chicago Bears, and playing with his great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>On May 14, 1983, he married Virginia Sue Yoder, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Jackie Walton, JR (Tina) Riley, Kim (David) Owens, Jim (Michelle) Simpson, and Harold Simpson; one sister, Linda (Charles) Singleton; two brothers, Larry (Karen) Riley, and George (Jeanne) Riley; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Robert; and his son, Donald Peck.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2022 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral at 12 p.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Melvin Lane officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery. Steinke Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements.
