Frank P. Garcia, 63 of Sterling died unexpectedly Monday July 25, 2022 at University of Chicago Medical in Chicago. He was born on February 5, 1959 in Sterling the son of Frank B. and Carmen C. (Caudillo) Garcia and was a 1977 graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School. He began his career in law enforcement in 1981 with the Whiteside County Sheriff Department having served as a deputy and later retiring as a detective in 2012. Frank was a huge Iowa Hawkeye wrestling fan and a “Dan Gable lover”. He followed Newman High School events especially those of which his grandchildren participated. Family movie and game nights were also important to him. Survivors include his children: Kayla (Todd) Messer of Sterling, McKenna Garcia of Lakemoor, IL, Brayden Garcia and Ethan Garcia both of Sterling; his mother, Carmen Rosenberg of Sterling; his sisters: Debra Tate (Larry Thompson) of Rock Falls and Melissa (Mark) Bowen of Orangeville; two grandchildren: Colin and Giuliana with a third grandchild expected in March 2023; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 5 great nieces and 6 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022 from 9-11 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11 AM with the Reverend James R. Keenan officiating. Memorials may be made in his memory to Newman Central Catholic High School.
