Larry G. Sanders Obituary

Mr. Larry G. Sanders, age 56, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 12, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where he attended the Switzerland County High School. Larry was inducted into the Kentucky Army National Guard on August 8, 1983. He rose to the rank of Specialist E-4 and specialized as a cannoneer. He received the Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Kentucky Service Ribbon, Kentucky Commendation Ribbon and the Rifle M-16 Quality Badge. He was honorably discharged on October 7, 1989 in Carrollton, Kentucky. He was also inducted into the United States Army National Guard on January 12, 1984 in Vevay, Indiana. He rose to the rank of Private First Class and specialized as a cannon crewman. He received the Army Service Ribbon, Rifle M-16 Sharpshooter and Hand Grenade First Class. He was honorably discharged on October 7, 1989 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Larry was united in marriage on July 7, 1997 to Cathy E. Anderson in Warsaw, Kentucky. This happy union of 25 years was blessed with a son Tyler. Larry was formerly employed for the US Shoe Factory and Randall's Textron for several years. He was later employed for Steel Technologies in Ghent, Kentucky and for American Racing in Warsaw, Kentucky for several years. Larry was currently employed as a loader for CertainTeed in Carrollton, Kentucky for over 20 years. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering on cars and keeping a meticulous lawn. For the past several years, Larry battled congestive heart failure and diabetes but he never let it slow him down. Larry unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on Monday, July 25, 2022, at his residence.

Larry will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Cathy E. (Anderson) Sanders of Vevay, IN; his loving son, Tyler Sanders of Vevay, IN; his mother, Anna D. (Lock) Sanders of Vevay, IN; his sister, Tammy Sanders of Jacksonville, FL and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Gene Sanders, died September 29, 2006; his paternal-grandparents, Ralph Robinson and Lucille (Hambaugh) Sanders and his maternal-grandparents, John Harvey Lock, Sr. and Aileen (Lothridge) Lock.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2022, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
