Robert Louis Milich

<p>Robert Louis Milich (Bob; “Pops”), 89, of Freehold Township, passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2022 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born in Staten Island, NY in 1932, he was the second oldest of four boys. At six years old he and the family moved to Freehold where he would spend the rest of his life.</p><p><br></p><p>At 16 he met Barbara who, after three years of convincing, would become his wife for the next 68 years. They were married in November, 1951. In January, 1960 they welcomed their daughter, Holly.</p><p><br></p><p>Robert served in the United States Army from 1952-56 and received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.</p><p><br></p><p>Upon discharge from the Army, Robert worked as a truck driver. He was an avid mechanic and handyman. He enjoyed oil painting, working in his woodshop, fixing anything he could get his hands on, watching golf, football and Nascar. In the evenings, he and Barbara made a ritual of watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and American Pickers.</p><p><br></p><p>Affectionately known as Pops, he was a friend of Bill W. for 42 ½ years. During that time, Pops lived a life of gratitude, inspiring and being inspired by countless people from all over.</p><p><br></p><p>Robert is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Milich (2018), his parents, Louis Milich &amp; Mildred Gallagher-Milich and his eldest brother, William Milich.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his daughter, Holly McKay of Howell, NJ, his granddaughter, Christine McKay of Brick, NJ, his fur-great grandpup, King of Brick, NJ, his brothers and sister-in-Law, Richard Milich of Downingtown, PA and Phil (Jane) Milich of Acworth, Georgia as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and countless friends and loved ones.</p><p><br></p><p>A viewing will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday, July 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. </p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 12 p.m. followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church, 118 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.</p><p><br></p>
