Dorothy Lee Thomas Obituary

Dorothy Lee Thomas was born Oct. 8, 1936 to Fannie Russell Thomas  and Willie Thomas in West Bend. She departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Jackson Medical Center in Jackson. Dorothy joined the Cedar Point Baptist Church at an early age and served as a matron, member of the hospitality commitee and church housekeeper. She was educated at the Clarke County Training School and then worked at the Greasy Spoon Cafe for 12 years. Dorothy loved cooking and preparing her special dish, potato salad. Dorothy also enjoyed watching TV, especially game shows and soap operas. She was a housekeeper for her church for many years. She provided childcare for Shemicka, Annie “Butterball,” Marciano “TBird,” Javier and Dion.

Dorothy was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Randy (Irish) Thomas of Mobile; like a son, Dec. Rayfus (Bessie) Pugh; like a daughter, Beulah A Thomas, all of Coffeeville; two sisters, Margaret Sherrod of Stafford, Va., and Pecolia Handy of Mansfield, La.; aunt, Earnestine Russell of Mt. Vernon; nieces, Frances Coates, Lillian Garnes and Victoria Hunt, all of Mobile, and Tia (Jermey) Handy of Mansfield, La.; nephews, Erskie (Brenda) Sherrod of Strafford, Va.; with other relatives and friends.
